# Physics

**Usage:** `api.Physics.Raycast(origin, dir, 10)`

Raycast/overlap helpers. The last single-hit result is stored in [hit](/engine/home/doxygen_synced/classes/class_physics.md) because JS cannot consume C# out-parameters directly.

Casts a ray; the hit result is stored in [hit](/engine/home/doxygen_synced/classes/class_physics.md).

**Parameters**:

* **origin** Ray origin.
* **direction** Ray direction.
* **maxDistance** Maximum distance.

**Return**: True if something was hit.

### function Raycast

```csharp

    UnityEngine.Vector3 origin,
    UnityEngine.Vector3 direction,
    float maxDistance,
    int layermask
)
```

Casts a ray filtered by layer mask; the hit result is stored in [hit](/engine/home/doxygen_synced/classes/class_physics.md).

**Parameters**:

* **origin** Ray origin.
* **direction** Ray direction.
* **maxDistance** Maximum distance.
* **layermask** Layer mask to filter against.

**Return**: True if something was hit.

### function RayCastAll

```csharp
static RaycastHit[] RayCastAll(
    UnityEngine.Vector3 origin,
    UnityEngine.Vector3 direction,
    float maxDistance
)
```

Returns all hits along the ray.

**Parameters**:

* **origin** Ray origin.
* **direction** Ray direction.
* **maxDistance** Maximum distance.

**Return**: All raycast hits.

### function OverlapSphere

```csharp
static UnityEngine.Collider[] OverlapSphere(
    UnityEngine.Vector3 origin,
    float radius
)
```

Returns all colliders overlapping a sphere.

**Parameters**:

* **origin** Sphere center.
* **radius** Sphere radius.

**Return**: Overlapping colliders.
